People are who they are.

I am talking about the image that they are portraying towards outsiders. They are definitely making people think that they are weird and something is wrong with them. I don't see Koreans or Chinese people behaving like that , so why are they doing it?

I feel sometimes they make asians lose face. But their technology and achievements balance it out.

well, with them crazy gameshows and banzai, people do have these perceptions of japan and how wierd they can get .. and that's only from banzai ... that's why i think they are the alien culture, i still like it though ..very intrigueing

From non-asians I've pretty much heard the opposite. People I've talked to seem to see Japanese as the "norm", reserved, polite, and advanced part of Asia. You always hear alot of good things from anime fans (not the cosplay weirdos who masturbate to Sailor Moon, but normal guys who like a few select anime) The things I've heard regarding Koreans & Chinese usually falls under as rude, fobby (only one guy actually used this word but the rest pretty much implied it), loud, and third world(yes there are still idiots on this planet who see China AND Korea as third world nations.) Most people don't watch Japanese tv shows or movies, unless they're popular classics anyway, so they don't see some of that behavior. Although, personally I don't think one particular East Asian country is embarrasing the other two. You also shouldn't be concerned about what everyone else thinks of your country.

I've heard of so many stories of weird, sick and perserve acts from the Japanese but never or far far less than from Chinese and Koreans, seriously, I think of them as generally more reserved, calm, and kooky, same goes for Germans as opposed to other Europeans.

From a realistic point of view (not the media), the asians "I don't know personally" at school are always the only groups of people that act strange. Especially the quiet ones in class, when someone asks them something or talks to them, they start sweating, laughs wierd, shifty, fidgets w/their hands, etc. It's just people talking to them, for goodness sakes!! They act like social retards (the ones at my school, NOT in general).

I think most Americans view Japan as a country of whacky people as seen in Takeshi's Castle. I've notice a lot of this stereotyping in cartoons, such as the Simpsons when they went to Japan and had to go on a game show to get a ticket home (but the Simpsons makes fun of everyone don't they?). Still, on most forums I go to, there's bound to be a thread similar to this, even on forums having nothing to do with Asia.

And now with the internet, these wacky images of Japan are spreading faster than ever and people will keep thinking Japan is like that. Does Japan worry about its image? If so, they should not let those shows be imported into other countries.

Actually the most of the people I've 'known' who thought about the weird sex side etc of japan have been on this forum............its extremely rare that I've heard it talked about in the UK.

I dont find japanese people wierd at all and actually find their people and culture very interesting.
