I was wondering if there was some kind of obssesion the japanese women had with black men? dont go gettin all offended now its just a question.

Blacks are physically pretty much the exact opposite of Japanese, if there is an obsession, I'm guessing its because these women want something completely different and feel adventerous,

there's this fashion trend called ganguro that tries to do the exact opposite of the typical japanese girl who covets white skin ..

Hmmm....maybe it's the influence of American media, music, American army/navy bases stationed in Japan, and personal tastes.
There's lots of mixed couples, but maybe asian/black just stands out more?? Just depends where you live. My area in Yokohama has like hardly any interracial couples. Go to the army/navy bases and you'll see tons of couples like that.

^Yeah, Yokohama is pretty Japaneezy. I'm from Gifu-ken and my family was friends with all the American+Jpnese couples there. Very few. I saw a lot in Tokyo. Okinawa has tons.

my Japanese teacher in highschool married a black guy... I met that guy once, he must've weighed 3 or 4 times as much as my sensei. My neighbor across the street who's also Japanese married a Jewish guy... thought that was a bit of a weird combination... her husband and their son practices Judaism, while she's Shinto.

Don't think so. I mean, you'll find a Japanese girl who might prefer black guys, but exceptions like this can be found in any nation or population. Never heard of a "black obsession craze" in Japan, no. Ernesto is probably the only black person they've ever seen there lol. Your best bet are the gangsta Japanese groups, they're very accepting of blacks because well, they think that black people are "ghetto gangsta from NYC".

And ganguro girls aren't trying to look black nor attract black guys, they're trying to look tan. Similar to the american culture in miami and other beaches where the blonde white girls end up almost brown because of their obsession with tanning. It's almost the same thing except the Japanese girls get fake tans and bronzer. It's pop-culture gone wry in Japan.

I know :P, I said they're from a magazine and that they're actually more kogal than ganguro. Kogal is basically a classier ganguro (ganguro lite), they actually try to look like girls from cali, you know the ones you'd see on The Hills or Laguna Beach from bad MTV reality shows.
