I thought it look more like some traditional cloth that Thai people wear. Not sure, but i can't be the combination of ao dai and western.

It's obviously not his.
It's an APEC finance minister meeting.
It's tradition for the visiting leaders to wear the host nation's attire.
Can you imagine the ridicule he would get if he wore some sort of ethnic traditional clothing while leaving his home country of Australia?

I hope that when it's Australia's turn to host, the Vietnamese delegation won't be compelled to wear traditional Australian aborigine "attire".
Yeah, i cant remember of any significant Australian APEC conferences in recent times, but i think the aborigine loincloth with a boomerang at hand would be a bit too much for the likes of Bush, koizumi, Roh, Jintao, Putin etc.
That would be funny though.

If I remember correctly, the "clothing" is made by Vietnam and given to these leaders to wear.
I wonder what they were smoking when they came up with this dress for the conference?

What about our "quốc phục": áo thụng? Viet elders are wearing this (usually in blue, green, or red) for pretty much every important traditional ceremonies.

Kind of inconvenient to wear, if you have to make a run for the bathroom and lower the toilet seat before the $hit ...
