If they went to India and called Rajputs in India "Punjabis," they would get a b*tch slap.....I hope they also realize that the Muslim Rajputs make up a minority in the general Rajput population.


Since their families have lived in Punjab for many generations, I think they have a right to call themselves Punjabi. But, that's just wrong to say that Rajputs, especially Indian Rajputs, are strictly of Punjabi lineage.

Since being "Punjabi" is very hyped up on RD, I can see why they would refuse to acknowledge that Rajputs aren't Punjabi.


I also consider myself a UPite, but I don't forget where my ancestors came from. If I meet a Rajasthani person, I will acknowledge the fact that I have Rajasthani heritage.


About Himachal Pradesh being mountain punjabis, this guy was telling me that the Paharis in Himachal Pradesh don't see themselves as Punjabi.

^didnt have to do much convincing. Their looks, culture, food and traditions are more similar to us than others. I was under the impression that Rajputs were another caste of Punjabis. Anyways when did we divert from talking about hot girls to Rajputs?

Are you talking about Muslim Rajputs or Hindu Rajputs? Muslim Rajputs are obviously going to be similar to Indian Punjabis because they live in Punjab. But, Hindu Rajputs see themselves as being very different from the Muslim Rajputs. Didn't you get my PM to you?

Another reason why Sikh Punjabi culture may seem similar to Rajput culture is b/c Guru Gobind Singh borrowed some of their traditions.

A lot of Sikh ABD's don't know this, but the last name Singh, the kirpan, and the turban were already being used by Rajputs for centuries before Sikhism was found. Rajputs were known as warriors, and the Guru wanted to establish that Sikhs were warriors too.




A lot of Hindu Rajputs do look distinguishable from the prototypical Punjabi, because Rajasthan borders MP, UP, and Gujarat.



If Punjabis, Gujaratis, and Bengalis get to enjoy their ethnicities, why can't we?

Just like a Punjabi would correct you if you thought that he was South Indian, a Rajput would let you know that he/she is not Punjabi.

Sridevi is my favorite Indian actress of all time. She's the epitome of Indian beauty, IN MY OPINION. There are so many beautiful Indian women, but if I had to pick only one, she's THE ONE. Not only is she pretty, but one of the best Indian dancers of all time.

in the case of most of those indians girls i agree
but alot of other celebs, esp whites who tend to have really thin lips, makeup can CREATE it by using lipstick and drawing more of a bottom and upper lip
trust me, im a girl, i know that makeup can create illusions and actually really change ur looks
for true beauties, of course, makeup is just to enhance their beauty

but yeah indian girls are hot

Totally off-topic, but whoever was talking about Goswami being a Punjabi name....

If Udita says she's not Punjabi, then take her word for it.


My mom said Goswami was a Punjabi name too, but there are cases where last names aren't indicative of what you are. I have a Punjabi last name too (b/c of my step-dad), but I'm not Punjabi. Diya Mirza has a Muslim last name, but she's not Muslim. It's just that her Muslim step-dad adopted her.


I even know a Sikh Punjabi guy whose great-grandfather changed the last name to a South Indian name!
