I think its still selecting process, I dont think she has a high chance of being chosen coz she's not that good of an actress.

I just think it was more of a media hype.

Heart on the loose


During a lousy day at home, you can't help but slouch comfortably on the sofa, turn on the television and flip lazily over fifty or more channels (that is, if you have a cable TV!). Until you catch a glimpse of this lovely, bubbly, long-haired girl on screen. Then, you stop to gaze at this beautiful creature on your boob tube. Only then will you realize that it isn't such a bad day after all! So, you decide watched the rest of the show and smiled.

She is one of today's prettiest young stars and is a member of ABS-CBN Talent Center's Star Circle Batch 9. Born LOVE MARIE EVANGELISTA ONGPAUCO on February 14, 1985, HEART EVANGELISTA on screen, would definitely gives the guys goose-bumps just by looking at her and the girls a reason to envy because of her adorable smile and expressive chinesey eyes.

She describes herself as kikay who loves to shop. To prove it, she already has a cool collection of chic and fashionable array of wardrobe to choose from at age 17.

Actually, many misunderstood her kikay quality as being maarte in her former school.

"Before, I had a lot of kaaway, I couldn't understand it nga… maarte rin sila ah!" she laughed. "They'd always make up stories like I tried to flirt with this girl's boyfriend daw, but I really didn't. The girls were making me sugod nga but I was just quiet. The teachers noticed naman na I wouldn't fight back so they gave me an 'A' while those girls got an 'F'.

That follows, if there's really on trait to describe Heart, it is her being down-to-earth and, may we add, righteous.

"I think it's better to stick doing the right thing because it brings you good karma," she shared.


GOOD KARMA


And boy, was she right in saying that!

Ever since she was discovered at the Alabang Town Center strolling with friends by those eagle-eyed talent scouts, it was nothing but good karma for Heart.

You first saw her with young and talented, then budding young actor COGIE DOMINGO in a REXONA commercial three years back. You've also seen her play the part of Missy in Channel 2's teen TV series G-mik, as a 'sosyal' cutie in the defunct sitcom Da Pilya En Da Pilot and in her very first movie, Trip that won her an awards as Best New Movie Actress of the Year.



"When I won the award, I didn't have a speech prepared 'cause I wasn't expecting to win. But when I won, I was in cloud nine! It's every actress' dream to win an award," gushed the lovely actress.

Hear is now, a regular cast of new sitcom Ok, Fine, Whatever! With Aga Muhlach, Bayani Agbayani, Rica Peralejo, and Gloria Romero among others. You could also catch her in the TV series Berks, which is aired every Saturday. Aside from the acting engagements, Heart would also be spotted on Studio 23's Myx as a VJ.

That's quite a long list already. But just when you think that the list ends there… read again. She is also an image model for Vitasoft Cologne Gel, and Bum Shirts, Vaseline shampoo and her latest product endorsement, Close-Up Lemon Mint with John Pratts. Heart can also be seen in several mini-fashion shows all over the country.

GROWING UP WITH HEART


Heart was raised in Daly City California by her Chinese-Filipino mom Chic Evangelista. An important engagement brought them abroad four months after she was born.

"I am the youngest child in family of six. I've got a brother and four other sisters", she shared. "We, actually my parents, had to manage our restaurant in Daly City that's why we had to move there."

How come she speaks fluent Tagalog?

"Kasi when we came back here, we were trained to speak Tagalog. Talagang bawal kaming magsalita ng English when we're inside our house."

At seven, Heart is already oozing with talent. She would sing and act in front of an audience. Coming from a brood of movie producers, choosing her career is not anymore a surprise.

"When I was a kid, I dreamed of becoming an artist. May singing waiters din kami sa Barrio Fiesta sa Daly. I'd sing along with them kahit sa guitar lang."

Being an actress, how's life for this young girly-girl?

"My life now is like a fairy tale," she smiled. "Pero mahirap din 'cause I have to study and do tapings at the same time."

Already a third year student at Distance Learning Center, Heart confessed that it wasn't easy for her to ask permission from her parents about entering show business, especially from her dad who is quite strict.

After sincerely promising that she won't quit her studies, she went on and passed the auditions. Since then, her parents gave their blessing and support.

"I guess, it's the sacrifice which I had to make para lang I could do whatever is it that I love doing," she said. She further said, "My mom and I would wake up at 5 a.m. kasi galing pa ako sa Carmona. Nasanay na rin ako but, come to think of it, what I'm doing right now isn't much of a sacrifice rin naman because I'm enjoying and having fun."

So far, heart finds the people in the 'biz nice. Worth mentioning are her best friends Camille Pratts, and Angelica Panganiban. She even confided that they'd help each other out whenever they have problems. The two would even coach Heart when it comes to crying.

"I'm not that good kasi at crying. So, when there's a scene where I have to cry, medyo it takes some time pa," confessed Heart.

Aside from acting, Heart is also starting to venture entrepreneurship to secure her future. In fact, she has a soft-drinks business in Edsa and Caloocan. The profit she gets from her business goes directly to her savings.

"I also plan to invest sa iba pang business and I'm glad my whole family supports me on this. When I got the job, I learned how to spend wisely na. Dati kasi, I used to shop a lot but now, I'm not into expensive clothing na."


ON MATTERS OF THE HEART


Talking about Heart Evangelista, we also think of her famous love team JOHN PRATS - the handsome lad of Channel 2's Berks!

Who is John in Heart's heart?

"I admit crush ko si John because I like chinito mestizo. But we're just good friends."

Is he courting you?

"My dad is strict. As a love team, though, I believe may 'sparks' naman between us pero sobrang pigil."

As of now, they're on two different sitcoms but they haven't lost contact with each other.

"Were in the same network kaya we still see and text each other."

Could you tell us how sweet John is?
"John once gave me credits when I was zero-balance." Hmm, looks like a quiet sign that he'll be there even through your worst moment.
