I dunno if this is a repost because it's old news but here's videos of the Daechuri riot that took place over the US Base expansion where residents were forcibly evicted to make room for the base.

Part 1

Part 2

Part 3

Part 4

Wow! eek.gif Talk about an epic battle!
CJK
There have been many big demonstrations against the new US base up until last week when many homes were bulldozed to the ground.
lilasiankid
Yeah it has been going on for very long time....but I'm not sure when that particular riot was.
Ino

Gross majority of the 'demonstrators (yeah right)' are either students or professional demonstrators, meaning they get paid to stab the police with bamboo spears.
Cha
Looks like a scene out of a Kurosawa movie or a Braveheart movie.
obok
When these demonstrators always want to show this kind of Police beating protestor videos only for their propaganda but these people do not know and will never accept they are more violent and agressively beating the police.

The Korean police do not attack them before they are off line of the police guard.

These guys went to US for anti FTA but they dare could not do that like in Korea because they know they will be dead by US police if they did the same thing there.

So let me get this straight, the US wanted more space so the Korean Govt decided to ruin homes of the innocent civilians to make room for the US base? Hell, I would be rioting too. How the hell can a fu-king government to this to their own people?

Thats sad and embarassing..and those riot police should be ashamed for working for the govt.
Mua
I think most of the protestors haev no affiliation with the families who have lost the land, and im not sure but could someone tell me if the families were compensated? im sure they were..

I hate those students...whats the fu-king use...
KJlost
Of course they were compensated. We didn't run them out of their houses with nothing but cloths on their backs. Besides which, I doubt Chinese have any moral ground after they displaced thousand of people with their Three Gorges Dam project.

The Korean government moved the Americans out of Yong San and settled them in area around Pyoung Taek. American movement out of Yong San was our initiative as much as it was American's. After lengthy talks, most of the residents agreed to move out of the land with government compensations. The few that remained had to be evicted under law. Sad yes, but these kind of things happen in just about every other day everywhere. This only gets attention because its American base replacing the residence.

This attention is the reason why there are violant 'demonstrations'. The protesters are pro-North, anti-US, and even some anarchists. They go around the entire nation doing violant activities under the name of 'demonstration' like fly to honey. So shut up and mind your own businesses.
Wstallion
The ones who decided to stay are probably the ones who lived there their entire lives and did not want to move.

and they think the korean govt favors the US because they ( korean govt ) are forcing their own civilians out to make way for outsiders when infact seems prejudice.

Example, a korean company lays off its own korean workers to make room for nonkorean employees when korean employees been working there for a long time.

It's governmental project all in all. There would have been very little difference had it been the ROK Army setting up training camp in the land. They would negociate and compensate for the people moving out. They would then have to forcefully remove people that refuses.

And you have got to be kidding me that this government is prejudiced against American. The president rode on anti-American sentiment, and the majority party in the parliament is also same lineage.

Meant against its own people to make way for american troops. Most of those koreans lived their entire lives then once a outsider comes, they have to move.
Mizz_Luv3r
I can't believe that Korea and the US government let this riot happen. It's senseless. I would have stabbed the sh!t out of those police people.

It's a village. They use shacks as homes. I would gladly receive government compensation and move into a apartment.

Yes, just as people had to move when new cities were developed and expended, and some richer outsider came. I don't see people trying to kill 20 year old conscripts for that, do you?

The difference between this and that? Well the Americans are involved. Of course it has to be different, take on a whole new meaning for you people, right?

If you did not note, that was sarcasm thick and sticky.
