I don't think anybody from my family were comfort woman but i've seen lots of them on TV... they always look depressed even to this day.

There were many Koreans who took advantage of the fact that there were confort women, though.

After the war, Japan handed out money compensation to those who claimed that they were confort women. Many people who weren't really comfort women also received the compensation.....

yeah i think money is not enought but a formal apologies, and non denial of what really happen, even if japan has too much pride to, they did really do it so they should be noble and fess up to their mistakes then and then maybe the healing would be easier, cuz they wont forget that experience by just buying food or a new car, they would keep it in their hearts until, especially their oldies now, when they die.

If japan compensated the korean comfort women....then why are they still trying to be compensated? There are two simple answers. Japan really did not compensate them. Ogumo wow, Japan is still paying war damage costs. Lots of people still claim today that they were harmed by the war by japanese offenses, when there aren't any. This isn't new. But Japan is forced to pay to whoever claims to be eligible for the money.

Not really. These cases go to court in japan and are usually overulled. Every now and then the court will give a victim something. I don't think that modern japan is forced to pay anyone anything anymore for the WWII.

For what that poisonous bomb that exploded? Japanese had to send people to remove and destroy the material. They didn't really have to pay the people that suffered in that area anything for their trouble. However if they didnt it would just cause further problems.

After the Japanese deafeat, many korean (comfort) women were left in CHINA. i was watching a story on how a old WOman living in a chinese village which turn out to be korean, who have been brought in to china during WWII as a comfort woman when she is 16. (not interested to get in to details) She finally made it back to korea, two weeks before she passed away, to see her family. Yeah like the japanese took them back to Korea. I wonder how many similiar cases are there?

But I can tell you that my teacher's family suffered during WWII... Her grand-uncle was taken by the Japanese and used for bayonet practice... That's just wrong and that's got to hurt... He never came back to the family... His sister waited for a long time taking this memory with her to the grave...

As for the comfort women, I heard that many were Korean... They were raped until they became diseased and left for dead.

My grandparents didn't suffer major damage but my grandpa was forced to learn Japanese and was only allowed to speak Japanese.

ok, just out of curiosity, what race are you theshadowranger? because i havent exactly heard of a lot of japanese men going gaga for korean women. In fact, i live in the US and you will still run into people who are racist between koreans and japanese. Also, it's not like the men wanted korean women, they wanted sex no matter who it was with. These girls and women were horribly raped and beaten. The Japanese have often made the excuse that many of them weren't even alive during the war, so they don't think they should apologize. But I think these people are not asking for a literal apology but a SYMBOLIC one. There's a difference. Why don't they apologize so people can get on with their lives?
