Rurouni Kenshin OVAs - best damn storyline, best sword animations, extremely well animated, perfect music
serious/action

First 50 or so episodes of Naruto (before the 100s of fillers) funny, good music, good animation
comedy, ninja adventure

DBZ - oldschool and tons of action
action

Full Metal Panic Season 1, Season 2, Fumoffu - Fumoffu season is probably the funniest anime there is
comedy/mech action

Gundam Wing - best damn mech anime there is
mech action

Love Hina - best love comedy, extremely funny
romantic comedy

Old school all the way baby! I hate almost all of the current anime produced today.

Tenjho Tenge and Battle Vixens - are pretty much the same. Students in high school battling for control or the top ranking. Some serious @$$ whooping action!

Golden Boy - Young man traveling on his bike after comlpeting all his classes in law school just to learn more about the world. Taking notes and study while doing odd jobs and running into beautifull women and unknowingly stealing their hearts.

Nausicca - young woman who stops a great army from bringing back a dead yet powerful weapon to destory her people's land.

IGPX immortol Grand Prix - intense high speed racing action in mechs. A second rate racing team takes to all the way to become champs just to let it all get to them. Things seem to go down hill in the beginning of the second season but I'm not sure what happens cause I haven't seen the rest.

These are just a few I could think of off top.

Vampire Hunter D - Best anime that I've seen thus far. Action packed fighting and king-fu at it's best.

ETA: Elfen Lied - I really like this one!!

Cat Soup - the most surrealistic thing I ever watched ...

Basilisk - It's rated R in my book! It's seems more like a real life series than just an anime. There's a lot of action and adult content...lol The movie "Shinobi: Heart Under Blade" was based on this anime.

RoboTech: This is my first love of animes. It's sentimental and funny at times. You really get invovled with the characters and their personalities.

Sailor Moon: Darien says it all!

Naruto: Naruto and the rest of the characters are so lovable and each one of them are very unique. The storylines are funny and also makes me cry. It's all about friendship, overcoming the past, and protecting the good! lol

i'm sure iv said this in other series threads but i really recommend Hikaru no Go. Probably the best i'v seen. you wouldn't think a show about a board game could be interesting. and its cool to see the main character grow from a little boy to a teenager and his trail to reach the "Hand of God".

The original Macross movie 超時空要塞マクロス　愛・おぼえていますか was probably the best.
Robotech was (no offense to Carl Macek), but a butchered version of 超時空要塞マクロス which really screwed up the story line.

Macross Plus and Macross Zero were probably some of the best OVAs I've ever seen.

Yami no Matsuei is a really good anime, though it is a fairly short series, it's drawn fantastic, and just because i think the story line is very interesting. Another is Loveless [my fav anime <3, lol] Again, it isn't a long series, but it's a sweet story line, and i just fell inlove with all of the characters ^^.
