I use my wet washcloth to to get rid of the dead skin cells and then I use a facial cleanser.

Try using soap that's made with 100% Italian Olive Oil and Aloe Vera (the brand I'm using is Neolia by the way). Then use Neutrogena's acne wash cream cleanser. Works well for me.

run this over your face a few times a day. Should clear up your face in no time.

I used to do that, but now I use a generic store brand anti-acne cream. Just the same thing; clean up oil and done.

It's the Long's version of Clearsil's Daily Facial Cleaner.

You should see my face Theta, no acne, very clean.

No. No. No. No. No. No. No.

Anyways, I was wondering what this "exfoliation" business was and if it were any good.

Exfoliating = removing dead skin cells. That's basically all I know about it. icon_redface.gif Go on S00mpi...those little experts there will be of great help to you. embarassedlaugh.gif

If you don't use soap/cleansers, then how do you wash off the oil on your face?? water doesn't really get all the oil/dirt off by itself.

I'd recommend for guys to definitely wash their faces with some kind of face soap/cleanser and exfoliate once in a while, but not where you shave. that area has the newest skin due to being shaved regularly on a guy's face. Oily skin is ugh.

Oily, dirty, flaky, big visible pores skin is major yuck. sure.gif

oh yes of course, i use this orange papaya soap my mom imported from the filipines ... i dont know it's exact functions, but it keeps my face oil free .. i only use it ocassionally cause it overdries sometimes ... and when that happens i need to use a thin layer vasaline to remoisturize lol ..

a clean face towel soaked with luke warm water, and keep it on your face for a while to open up pores. use a gentle exfoliator. i use baking soda since all the other ones are too harsh for my skin. rinse. then wash with cleanser thats suited for your skin, rinse. pat dry gently with face towel or paper towel. my skin is baby smooth. try it biggthumpup.gif

what you eat is very important, most of the oils and dirt on your face comes from your body

Goombaking:

Baking soda is good. Just make sure you mix it w/some water and rub gently! Just remember to not exfoliate too much where you shave.
Also, if the soap you're using is drying your face, you need to switch.
Try 'gentle', 'sensitive', 'moisturizing', 'milky' soaps/cleansers.
biggrin.gif

In Japan, most face lotions/creams are more liquids (watery or milky) than creams (moisturizing, but not too much) and alot of people use 化粧水, which is a slightly moisturized water for the face that has minerals or some factors of pH to calm your skin's balance. This is really great for oily skin, since it's lighter than any type of 'light moisturizers' that I've ever found and is basically like water, but better!!! If you live in a big city, you can probably buy this at some place that sells Asian face stuff. biggrin.gif Shouldn't be too expensive.
Goombaking209
oh those? i hate the facewash that comes from japan ... most of them are "face whiteners" confused.gif why would anyone use those?

anywho, thanks for the suggestion, ill try it one of these days ...

btw, i dont shave yet

yeah. well experiment first. if your skin doesn't react good to it for at least a week. stop. but it doesnt hurt to try. its gentle and cheap. other exfoliators are too harsh.

yes. make the baking soda into a paste by adding a bit of water. exfoliate before cleansing. people may wanna get a toner to minimize pores and balance the pH of the baking soda.
