lol I don't wanna create a morbid topic, but how come when a loved one dies here in America we don't cremate them on a funeral pyre? Honestly crematoriums are low class and there's just a sense of something beautiful or poetic amoungst the saddness of losing a loved one when it's done on a funeral pyre.

In all honesty I've never witnessed an actual cremation on a funeral pyre but they seem really nice in the movies. I'm not sure about getting into the business of making money off funerals, but I dunno why there aren't places in America where you can be sent off in the proper Indian way.

Its against federal law to create or use funeral pyres. It has to do with fire saftey issues.

That's why most people who want cremation have to go for crematoriums (which are creepy @$$ places....especially electric ones)....... eek.gif

This is something worth fighting though, yah? There's no reason safety standards such as having them in wide open areas and on top of concrete foundations can't be implemented. This is a pretty poetic part of our culture.

No, Parsees leave their corpses to be consumed by vultures in areas known as "Towers of Silence"....
jiggyiggy
This is not for the money yah? nono.gif

No it's a tower they leave their dead in. They are gonna have to make their own accomidations.
