Pakistani envoy in Seoul said Buddhism came to Korea from Pakistan and not India.

What Nonsense! The whole bloody subcontinent was India then! Do ppl have very short memories or something? Almost 60 years INDIA was DIVIDED into 2 pieces!

At the time that Buddhism came to Korea, there was no Pakistan. There was only the kingdoms of Sindh, Punjab, Baluchistan, Kashmir, etc. Aside from Sindh, no other Pakistani kingdoms were naval powers, making it highly unlikely that Buddhism would have reached Korea through a Pakistani port.

i think it was via the silk road. it is kind of surprising that being a transmitter of a non-islamic religion would be something that pakistan is proud of.

Mahayana Buddhism originated in Pakistan.

There is legitimacy to that you IDIOT! India is the rightful heir to the ancient civilizations that existed in the Indian Subcontinent, starting from Harrapan Civilization!

I am not joking at the idiot part!
radha_chopra112
yep, you're right. India did invent the zero. Some people try to credit Arabs w/ that invention. Wrong! biggrin.gif

Um...Are you stupid or just playing around? What does government have to do with the civilization n culture? India is a secular republic......so? Indian culture exists as it now as it was thousands of years ago, unless ur implying that Indian Democracy has completely erased every trace of indian culture prior to british advent to the indian subcontintent!

Seriously, stop fooling around!

The present or any future form of type of govt' doesn't determinte what makes a nation legal heir to the past, but rather the culture of the people! Communist China - The Form of Govt is a foreign ideal but no one cany deny their past as culturally they are the heirs of their ancestors!

Why wouldn't it be any different with people from Pakistan whose descendents took Buddhism eastwards? Why does their young government negate this fact?

OMG, ur a total ABCD! Kid, Pakistani education teaches them that they are all descendents of some foreign invaders who took over the Present Pakistani land and blah blah blah. Besides, Pakistan didn't friggin exist, and is not even remotely culturally similar to its predecessors!

Haven't u ever friggin thought why Indus Valley Civ, some of whose major sites are in Pakistan isn't even associated with it, but rather India?

well um..... Pakistan didn't exist, it was part of India. Can you tell an Indian and Pakistani accent apart, I can't. If the Indo-Pak war never happened, would this article exist? sure.gif
