How come white boys always shut up and become less dominant when a black kid is around?

depends on which white boy. but it's usually subconcious fear.

I used to all races/statures, no fear.

For some reason alot of white boys have this mentality that a black kid can automatically beat the crap out of them. Which is ridiculous. I've had guys who could probably have me on the ground crying in about 8 seconds get scared if they think they said something i might take offense at. Personally I think alot still have the mentalilty that blacks are just dangerous. I've been the only black kid at parties with like 30 or 40 white people. I'd know most of them most of the time so it wouldn't be that big of a deal. But if 3 or 4 more blacks show up in a group alot of people in that group of 30 or 40 start getting nervous as hell. Which I always find ironic seeing how 3/4 blacks would have more to worry about with 30/40 whites than vice versa. But whatever. Welcome to America.

actually man, it doesn't work like that. the first black friend I had was in kindergarten. I had no fear whatsoever. it was just pure friendship that was mutual. that began later into my future too, and after that I grew up with that "don't fu-k with me" mentality.



precisely, I think it has to do with negative instilling of "barbaric" images and fear of ballistics used because how television portray Blacks, especially on cops back then. so when you grow up, it's just like that.

I've never met anyone black or otherwise who was afraid of a Chinese kid because he might know kung fu. Especially since it wouldn't stand up too well against a knife or a gun.

It's not just a media thing - although there is that. It's also based on stats and life experience. Most of the people in prison are black. Having said that, blacks have come a long way. They have to fight against many stereotypes and poverty. It wasn't too long ago that white people were openly saying N*gga and hanging them for no reason.
Because of that, many blacks feel like outsiders (as do other minorities) and they sometimes can give off a bad image as a way of protecting themselves. Sometimes white people see black people being loud or acting tough and are fooled by this show of machismo.
Then of course - there is compton, inglewood and south central.

it depends, if u've grown up in a multicultual area i dont think it happens much, and alot of the time i think it happens when people see any "youths" black or white behaving "gangsta" an by that i mean dressing hoodies, low jeans, smoking weed etc

anyway im white an I dont do that I made a decision years ago that I would NEVER be forced to change my behaviour to appease anyone

there's plenty of people who make negative light of Chinese, I really don't care, I let the truth hit them in their face when they see me.

You usually see a high number of Koreans, Chinese and Japanese creating these businesses well before SE asians do. That's my witnessing and a few others, I really don't know about you personally. Considering first asians are Chinese, Japanese, Filipinos first to come over. Businesses are going to be established over a period of time.

Give off a bad image? Most of the time they don't even do anything except walk through the door and they start giving off nervous stairs. And none of them are "thugged out" or really intimidating in any type of way. I also kind of hate that stereotype of blacks being loud here because we aren't any louder than those stupid greeks (males AND females) or white rugby/baseball/soccer players. Although when people see them being loud it's just a group of loud individuals who need to stfu. When there are blacks being loud they're being loud because they're black. I also don't think it's necessarily based on stats and life experiences. It's not that they have been to compton, its that they've heard the hyped up media reports about the area. People are always bad-mouthing where I come from and most of them don't know anything about my neighborhood.

I think it has to do with racial profiling. White guys I know just automatically think that African-Americans are better fighters. For fifty years African-Americans have dominated the heavyweight division of boxing. This has changed very recently, but maybe it's hard to get images of Jack Johnson beating Jim Jeffries, Muhammad Ali destroying Chuck Wepner, and Larry Holmes beating Gerry Cooney out of their minds. Who knows, but I have seen the cockiest of caucasians get weak in the knees around black guys. Doesn't mean it's a universal, but at the time I attributed it to race.
