I hope it was just a stray incident and peace on the Peninsula won't be disturbed.

Five N Korean troops cross DMZSaturday, October 7, 2006 (Seoul):
Five North Korean troops crossed the Demilitarized Zone separating the two Koreas on Saturday.
In retaliation South Korean troops fired warning shots at them.
The incident occurred shortly before noon (08.30 IST) and comes amid a backdrop of spiraling tensions over North Korea's recent announcement that it plans to test its first atomic bomb.
Four of the North Korean soldiers were unarmed, while one was carrying a rifle, said an official at South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff.
They crossed the Military Demarcation Line separating the two armies before retreating to their own side after South Korean forces fired about 40 warning shots, the official said.
However, there were no injuries, he added. (AP)

Sure, I really believe. Want another war between South & North Koreans? Why hasn't this Indian troll been warned already for creating troll topics? Things like this happen ALL the time at the DMZ. It's nothing new.

Dear gangi788 plz cool down.As a friend of S Koreans i'm interested in peace and prosperity of the Peninsula. What makes you think this is a troll topic. What is a troll topic to begin with. You are welcome to participate in discussions in the India Chat Section of this forum. You may even initiate descussions there.
Afterall what are internet forums for.
Considering that the N Koreans want to test Nukes I was afraid this incident may develop into a major conflict.

^Friend of Koreans. Bull$hit. Why not speak about problems in your own country (presumably your area of expertise, not Korea)--I hear India-Pak both got nukes--with Indis and Muslims killing themselves left and right--probably a WWIII more likely to occur there than on the peninsula. Not to mentions those Pakis are hiding Osama Bin Laden. Pakistan is basically a training ground for terrorists. Bombing Londoners; threatening the US. I don't know why US doesn't bomb and take over your brother country, Pakistan like Afghanistan.
Cos of your dumb brothers that Americans can't take bottled beverages/liquids on airplanes & have to go through time-consuming security checks at airports!

LOL you're a moron.

There hasn't been direct fighting between Paki-Indian troops for nearly 10 years. You on the other hand have got soldiers crossing borders. Not even India-Pakistan have that.

But the terrorist problem is next door. I live in a big US city, and I'm scared to death another 9-11 will happen. Take care of your own house-keeping, before you criticize ours. I sure as hell as am not worried that Nk will reach US shores.
10 years--recent history buddy. NK & SK have been in relative peace for more than 50.

Standard practice to give audio warnings first, then warning shots. However, it does seen strange that North Korean troops, border guards no less, would try to cross the DMZ when the situation is tense politically.

its psychological warfare
The thing that gets to me is that most of the N Koreans were unarmed. Unfortunately, you never know with North Korea. The N. Koreans have been trying to stir trouble for a long time. This makes it difficult to tell which N. Korean soldiers are trying to defect. Anyway, if some of those soldiers start to flee the North, then I think much more will try to do the same thing. It is the NKPA that is keeping the NK regime intact. The Eastern European civilians fled to Western Europe easily. Soon after, the people in Eastern Europe ousted communism.
I think the reason why S. Korea is preventing NK soldiers from defecting is because that might instigate a civil war with the N. Koreans who are loyal to Kim Jongil. They are hoping for a more quiet change like the one in China. Another thing is that I think the South Koreans are looking at what happened with Germany after the unification.

We should really make a peace treaty with North Korea. I'm tired of this weird cease fire situation. If your going to have a war, do it already! We'll kill you!
