I wanna get a gift for a girl. Best friends sister. She's Khmer..............so any ideas? something not over the top but still showing that im thinking of her.

Since she's Khmer, money would be the best gift. Just kiddddddinggg! Ummm... maybe a nice frame or a bouquet.
you ask as if khmer girls can be generalized to the point where they 'have that kind of gift' they all like ....

Do you like her? then may be flower. If just"a friend" than get her Microsoft product- may be Office Skills 4?
Something thoughtful and simple........... not too expensive or fancy...... just something very thoughtful that she can use in her daily life.............
If you only like here as a friend only .............. do not buy her jewelry, flowers, or anything romantic, cloth or anything considered personal or thoughtful.... instead get her something plain and very weird LOL j/k
like a book, calender or puzzle or bottle of perfume an empty photo album lol something normal so she won't get any romantic ideas....................hmmmmmm or a nice wine glass, or a fruit basket... or one of those in store gift basket........
But if you have a crush on her do something thoughtful like book an evening out at a restaurant, or go to the photo print shop and frame her photo make it look nice and give it to her.......
or if its just the beginning of a relation just buy a simple flower, or if you have talent do a drawing of her....... or a photo album containing all the photo you took with her and friends................

just get her the survernia such as the symbol of your state is OK coz she not your special one.
