My expertise is architecting 3 tiers environment and provides company with solution for their legacy system. I want to establish a small company to consult and provide enterprise solution. I believe there will be even a greater opportunity to strike it rich in Vietnam then staying here in the US.

Vietnam can easily become SEA's leader in information technology.

That is the missing element right now. I tried to establish a good relations with some Vietnam international students but I found out they were not so bright.

I also plan on becoming an architect and going back to Vietnam to improve it.

I don't mean connection with the students. laugh.gif Entrepreneurship is still required to make it running but "connections" gives you the edge. Vietnam is still one of the most corrupted countries of Asia. So be prepared.

Don’t remind me about corruption I cannot imagine myself handing a bag of money to a corrupted official at all. But I never know I might do it for the greater good if there is such a thing. embarassedlaugh.gif embarassedlaugh.gif

If you have passion in doing something, go for it. You will find ways to succeed. biggthumpup.gif

Sooner or later, "cong an" will pay you a visit. I know a person who went back to work. He rented a house in some neighborhood. First night there, a high ranking official went to his house and told him that this is a bad neighborhood and he should be careful. Other words - if you want to be safe, you pay me and I give you protection. Just like "xa hoi dden".

If you want to get into business, make sure you have some kind of safety net. Don't use all your saving and expect a gigantic profit. You will have competitiors and Vietnam business laws are not like where you live. but again, your passion and talent will take you far. good luck. beerchug.gif

If you're going into IT, there are better opportunities here in the US. To succeed in Vietnam, you definitely need the political connections.

Not all thing can be outsource. Company tends to outsource only coding.
Dpham313
i didn't mean like they were going to outsource all the jobs. i just remember watching a news thing about it.

True. I heard it's difficult for recent college grads to find work, while those in the upper echelon have better job stability. My brother recently graduated as a computer programmer but he ended up going into data storage.

My advice: If you want to do, do it now or it will be late. The playing ground just cracks up. Very low capital needed to start up, not many players in the game. In few years from now, it will be crownd and expensive.
