As we know now, North Korea is breaking away from China's influence to become closer to Russia.

This situation happens before when Vietnam got closer to the Soviet Union, forcing a show down between China and Vietnam in the war of 1979.

What do you think?

China takes a soft stand against the West since its economy is more and more dependent on them. Russia on the other hand, with its rich natural resourse, takes a hard stand to the West. North Korea has little choice but seeing Russia as the only one that stand by her.

Other than that, I don't see any familiar between North Korea now and Vietnam in the late 70's. It's a different circumstance, Vietnam and China had a direct confrontation because the situation in Kampuchea.

S. Korea or Japan might be the Kampuchea of N. Korea.

I don't think its wise for North Korea to stand up against China, it won't do Kim Jong Il's regime any good. They need food and fuel from China.

Anyway, there won't be another conflict between VietNam and China, I plan to import transvestite and fags from that homosexual country and use them as a defense shield against China.

WHat makes you so certain?

China loves to see Japan be destroyed. They surely will help whoever can do this job for them. embarassedlaugh.gif

With a bunch of imported HIV-positive fags on the border the Chinese army wouldn't dare venture into VietNam! laugh.gif

The situations are grossly different. Vietnam wasn't isolated internationally the way NK is today and Vietnam enjoyed a much greater degree of self-sufficiency than NK is now. Vietnam could afford to tell China to fu-k off (and did), NK can't because it depends on China for basically everything.

Also, due to the Sino-Soviet split, Vietnam was of great strategic value to the Soviet Union (especially after the way Vietnam handled China's invasion in 1979). North Korea isn't really worth much to Russia today. Finally, Vietnam wasn't messing around with nukes (which is opening a huge can of worms).
