Vietnamese were a peace loving people, our ancestors didn't want to conquer other people's territories just for the sake of creating an empire. But when faced with population growth pressure, and attacks from the Champa kingdom in the south, and constant threats from the north, our forefathers had no choice but to expand to the south.
If you're really into knowledge seeking, then your meaningless generality disappointed me.
Let me help you to be more introspective:
Could *all* vietnamese "peace loving"?
Must be an unusal concept of peace and loving.
You know all your ancestors' minds?
How would your version of southern expansion agree with the version by Champa and Khmer?
Be more objective, a romantic notion of your heritage is okay, but keep that romantic, don't turn myths or folklores into history facts.
