There had been several instances where a co-worker or business saleman asked me what ethnicity I am.
And as soon as I responded I am a Vietnamese they would response “Do you like Pho?” and proceed on describing how they like Pho. FYI I live in a town with one or maybe two Vietnamese restaurants so I was surprised.
Every time I hear those responses it makes me want to quit my job and open a Pho restaurant.

Talking about that, at my university, there were only one Pho restaurant near campus 3 yr ago. Now, there is like 4 pho restaurant. Even a Chinese fast food "Village Wok" use to serve pho (very bad though).
LaiSteve66
Vietnamese people ask me that when they find out I'm My Lai (usually after they ask me if I can speak Vietnamese). I've never been asked that [Do you like Pho?] by a non-Viet.

I just had pho several hours ago (my mom cooked it). Nothing is better than eating a bowl of hot boiling pho on a cold windy autumn night. In fact, I'm going to have another bowl in about 2 hours embarassedlaugh.gif

I gather you look more Mỹ than Việt ... that's why they ask you if you could speak Vietnamese icon_wink.gif

I find it really annoying how the singer Mạnh Quỳnh claims he's mixed too but he doesn't look mixed at all! I think he's just saying that because Phi Nhung is mixed and she's so popular. embarassedlaugh.gif

Pho is clearly overrated. In the north, it's king. In the south, it's a general among many generals. In the central region, bun bo is king while pho is just a captain.

I think it's because it's easier to make good pho than to make good bun bo and also because there're lots of Bac people abroad.
