There had been several instances where a co-worker or business saleman asked me what ethnicity I am.
And as soon as I responded I am a Vietnamese they would response “Do you like Pho?” and proceed on describing how they like Pho. FYI I live in a town with one or maybe two Vietnamese restaurants so I was surprised.
Every time I hear those responses it makes me want to quit my job and open a Pho restaurant.

Talking about that, at my university, there were only one Pho restaurant near campus 3 yr ago. Now, there is like 4 pho restaurant. Even a Chinese fast food "Village Wok" use to serve pho (very bad though).

Vietnamese people ask me that when they find out I'm My Lai (usually after they ask me if I can speak Vietnamese). I've never been asked that [Do you like Pho?] by a non-Viet.

I just had pho several hours ago (my mom cooked it). Nothing is better than eating a bowl of hot boiling pho on a cold windy autumn night. In fact, I'm going to have another bowl in about 2 hours

There is one place that sell pho where I live and they charge $7.5-8 dollars a bowl depend on how much meat you want. And it tasted crappy too but it better than nothing.

i get that alot. once they asked me what national origin im from, the first thing out of their mouth is am i from bayou (a little fishing town near where i live that alot of vietnamese people live). then they tell me how much they love pho and eat at a pho restuarant every weekend.

I gather you look more Mỹ than Việt ... that's why they ask you if you could speak Vietnamese
I find it really annoying how the singer Mạnh Quỳnh claims he's mixed too but he doesn't look mixed at all! I think he's just saying that because Phi Nhung is mixed and she's so popular.

I'm not crazy about Phở. To me it's just another of hundreds other Vietnamese dish. I did not know Vietnamese American and other asians/whites are crazy about Pho until I came to USA.

I have to say Phở in Việt Nam is way better. But I like the bún riêu cua a lot more.

Pho is clearly overrated. In the north, it's king. In the south, it's a general among many generals. In the central region, bun bo is king while pho is just a captain.

I think it's because it's easier to make good pho than to make good bun bo and also because there're lots of Bac people abroad.

most Viets in usa are southern Vietnamese. I haven't seen a Bac Ky here yet.

Where do you live? I used live in a place where the Viet are mostly catholic and a bunch of them have a Bac Ky accent.

people do that all time. especially to asian people for some reason. "i had _____ before. i like it. you like it??"
