a ilocano guy living in hawaii for along time went to the mainland for the longest time. he went and saw this dude in the mall and knew he was filipino right, and he talked to him in tagalog, cuz you know it's more common, and he said in a really thick fobby way, sorry i forgot already how to speak. and he said in tag how long you been in here and he was like, a year! wtf. and also my igorot firend who speak ilocano went to las vegas and the filipinos down there he said never spoke in ilocano to him though they were what we call in HI fbis, or full blooded ilocanos.

now do i blame mainland flips only. well i had a stereotypical view of other filipinos until i figured out that i was wrong. and so fil don't get mad but don't think all HI filipinos are bad, just the way i don't think that not even most, mainland filipinos are bad.

So mainland US filipinos make filipinos look bad? At least you can't accuse some of us filipinos in the US mainland for being hawaiian wannabes.

OKay I get what your talking about. I just get mad because of things like this. For instance I was in an forum for filipinos in the mainland right. And then this hawaiian/samoan person comes in and starts accusing us of being Hawiian/Pacific Islanders. The members of that forum could care less about Hawiian culture. Yet he continued to make fun of us for something we don't do. Now answer me this why do I have to take the blame for something some of you filipinos in Hawaii do?

hawaii really is totally different than what others might tell you, i mean it's not perfect what place is. i tell you personally cuz i kinda grew up there, and it is a nice place really. you should come and visit if you have time.

I don't know I might I have seen probably all of Hawaii in the Travel Channel. Did you know that 2 days ago they showed nothing but Hawaii the whole time on Travel Channel. And they had an 30 minute show for Thailand. And an 5 minute segment on the Philippines. Im kind of sick and tired of hearing about how great Hawaii is. I want to learn more about South American countries or the Middle East.

well im not telling you just hawaii, but you definitely visit it one of these days. yes thailand is nice but it's also like hawaii, a heavily tourist country built like so like in hawaii.

but also the thing with hawaii is it's legendary name, i mean it put the pacific stereotype with hula surfing etc the whole tourist thing in the industry.

also hi is part of america not much you really have to change like passport and air travel is actually closer to some of those depending where you are. and it is american so economy is more on the whole protected by american enterprises

actually that's what ilocanos think of visayans. but to me i think i've seen dark @$$ visyans and dark @$$ ilocanos.

Ive scene other ilocanos but they wernt dark. Actually they looked korean, but then again, it was my grandmas friends and some of my lolas are chinese ilokano so their friends must be tsinoys too hhehehe.

i can't even tell whos visayan, ilocano, tagalog and etc. visayan also think ilocanos are dark. if your refering to cebuanos. i've never met a dark cebuano. cebuanos usually have tan or white skin.

really i've seen dark cebuanos man. most visayans in the us are cebuanos, i'm pretty sure if they're not they from bohol. but then again we all look the same in fact, i've seen alot of palish ilocanos more tha i did cebuanos.

i have to agree with you on this. my dad had palish skin back than and he return to the philippines and came back, he was dark. the second time he went back and came back, he was a lot darker. Must have been the sun.
