To all you balut lovers out there, have you actually seen what a balut really looks like in daylight without the egg shell covering on it? If you haven't, it might look something like this.

I dunno what i have to eat!! as long as the foods without poisioning, then i would eat all...But that balut has a baby inside is has a poision. So i wont eat it!

yummy! wonder why it is sold at night? in the dark? so that when you eat it, you don't see the chick! but even so, i can feel the downy feathers... eeew!

it really moves me to throw out all that i have eaten.

i love balut even with the sisiw, the taste is jus awesome especially with rock salt. the only thing is that i'm so fricking health concious now that i wouldn't eat it just for the fact aht it has so much cholesterol and calories in that stuff.

Well once a week would still be advisable i think....

hihihi, dunno, would it be better if you just consult your doctor on how frequent you can eat Balut...?

Balut is nice specially when its still hot, you crack a small hole on the egg then sip the"sabaw" inside, then peel and eat the yellow stuff, i give the baby duck to my dad.... cause he eats it....

Hehe, I freaked out when I went back to the Philippines when I was 9. I love salty boiled eggs and I didn't know what balut was, so I chased the guy down...haha. My mom probably knew I was going to flip (no pun intended). They only opened it a little so I could drink the juice, but I'm used to eating soft-boiled eggs euro-style because of my Dad, so I thought it was something along those lines...and then I saw the baby fowl...

Does anyone know how the tradition of eating balut began?
