@ Cha
Yes, I’m sure the NK people are fine people, and after their minds have been cleared of the constant stream of propaganda they’ve been fed for so many years I’m sure they’ll make great contributions to a unified Korea.
Threats don’t work but actions do. I asked a SSP supporter for an example of how it has benefited SK, I don’t recall receiving a reply on that point. If one is for a certain kind of policy they should be able to point out what it has accomplished not just say “you ruined our policy with your stupid speech!” If
one speech by a
foreign leader can “break” a policy that was used for years it obviously wasn’t a strong policy to begin with.
The North has used the excuse of being “afraid” of Bush to build weapons. I don’t buy it. They were developing nukes before he was even running for president. How can one account for that? They’re afraid we’re going to attack? We’re not talking enough? We’ve been negotiating with them for several years now and have offered them what I consider to be too much. They refused several very generous offers and left the talks. They have used the talks as a smoke screen to feign that they’re interested in a nuclear free K peninsula but they’re the only ones on the peninsula with nukes. All the while they used that time to develop nuclear weapons.
Also, I mentioned that Bush isn’t my favorite President, meaning I disagree with him on many things.
@ whoever else is reading
Kim Dae-jung-----“Under the Sunshine Policy, was North Korea engaged in nuclear development? With the U.S. refusing to even talk while bullying North Korea, isn’t nuclear development the only option left (to North Korea) to ensure its survival.” Now that’s what Kim Dae-jung said. Most can see that he’s a leftist/communist sympathizer if there ever was one. Now let’s see how that compares to comments made on the thread.
“If The US and his allies had tried harder to engage the N Koreans in dialogue and lift some of the sanctions in place, KJI would not have been so desperate.”
“bush is a stupid prick that broke the sunshine policy.”
“bush stop aiding north korea, and in response north korea said, if you act like this, we have arm missles and we'll use it.”
“They used economics to make China a more "freer" country, but fuked up on Nk. With that policy, it has worked with China.”
etc etc… there was quite a bit more like that.
Matches up pretty nicely doesn’t it? I could list what many Uri Party pols said that matches up with posts on the thread as well.
Bearing all of this in mind I’d say assuming people, who echoed comments made by communist sympathizers and leftists, are most likely on the left side of the political spectrum is fair.
As for communists how about “We don't need your goddamn democracy.”
As I said before it’s insane to say it’s even partially the US’s fault NK built and tested nukes. Unfortunately, that’s what virtually everyone said on the thread. A Korean columnist said this line of thought is “very stupid”. Another said that Roh and Uri need to “behave like adults”. It’s really almost the same thing- stupid/insane/behave like adults/silly except I’m white and they’re Asian.
People also kept mentioning Bush’s “Axis of Evil” speech which I found kind of funny actually. Just to quote the JoongAng Ilbo opinion piece once again “Why can't those politicians call an evil an evil?”
Also, I think people have confused the terms “racist” and “bigoted”. I’m not either btw, again at least towards East Asians.
