LG전자가 세계적인 명품 프라다와 손잡고 내년 초 출시하는 `프라다폰 바이 LG'가 베일을 벗었다.

KE850이라는 모델명을 가진 이 제품은 전면 터치패널을 채용한 획기적인 디자인으로 주목받고 있다.

20일 관련업계에 따르면 LG전자가 `세계적인 명품 출시'를 목표로 추진해온 `프라다폰 바이 LG'가 개발 마무리 단계에 접어든 것으로 확인됐다. LG전자는 이미 지난해 11월부터 존슨앤존슨에서 영입된 마창민 해외마케팅 상무를 중심으로 프라다와 `LG전자-프라다폰' 팀을 구성해 제품 디자인, 개발, 마케팅에 관한 조율 작업을 벌여왔다.

`프라다폰'은 기존 초콜릿폰에서 사용되던 터치센스 대신에 통화ㆍ종료ㆍ취소 버튼을 제외한 모든 메뉴를 액정 안에 담은 `전면 터치패널' 방식을 적용했다. 또, 샤인에서 처음 선보인 카메라 명품 슈나이너사의 인증 렌즈를 사용해 `명품을 만드는 명품'이라는 컨셉을 담았다. 사진을 접한 네티즌들은 전반적으로 외형이 초콜릿폰과 샤인의 장점만을 모아놓은 분위기라는 평가다.

이 제품은 GSM용 KE850 모델이 다음달 중 유럽시장에서 우선 출시될 예정이다. LG전자측은 내수용을 포함한 CDMA 모델은 4월 이후에나 선보일 수 있을 것으로 보고 있다. 프라다폰이라는 이름에 걸맞게 프라다는 이탈리아 밀라노와 프랑스 파리 등 세계 9개 대도시의 프라다 매장에 `LG전자-프라다폰' 전용 공간을 운영한다는 계획이다.

I hope all of you guys know that LG cell phones are HORRIBLE?!?!?! why spend so much on something so nice that you fear something will break on you. I have a friend that has the chocolate. He reported SO MANY PROBLEMS with that phone. My other friend SNAPPED his LG phone and tossed it out the window cause he couldn't hear anything from it. To me LG stands for LOWEST GRADE as in LOWEST GRADE of quality.

Based on anecdotal evidence - you can say that about any make/model.

Samsung is also coming out with a touchscreen model w/ a slide-out keypad (the F700).
