Just looking at these photos make me think of what the Krakatoa eruption must have been like. Now THAT is a really good big-budget movie opportunity. It's also something that can highlight Indonesia's natural majesty and culture.

I was thinking about a big budget movie ala Troy/ Day After Tomorrow or better still the various HBO-like made-for-tv ones concerning Pompeii, whereby a dramatic backdrop is used to highlight the human triumph and beauty of a people. Movies are a weakness of mine. icon_confused.gif

There is already a movie made about Krakatoa, called Krakatoa, East of Java, made in 1969. But obviously the moviemakers never did manage to visit the real volcano itself, or even try to find the volcano in a map in this case, because Krakatau is WEST of Java, not EAST.. sure.gif icon_redface.gif

There will also be a movie with a love story with the background of Krakatoa eruption, Krakatoa, to be produced in 2006.. hopefully they'll get the geography right this time.. biggrin.gif

Well, it is a tragedy, again.
And um, another question, is it true that many wild fires started every year, in Indonesia, like the archipelago

There have been a couple of movies about it. The dopey Hollywood film Krakatoa : East of Java is one example, and another rather better example is the harrowing Dutch film Krakatoa : The Last Days.
