Seems the Republic of Nicaragua is going to construct a really huge modern canal connecting the Pacific Ocean and Caribbean Sea. For over 400 yrs. ppl. have thought about building a canal there. Suppose to bring prosperity to them and to the other nations in Central America and the Caribbean. Will also bring more prosperity to Asia (mainly China) with the increase trade.

The mega-engineering project is expected to take more than 10 years to build but could redraw the map of world trade by opening the east coast of North America, Europe, and Brazil to large-scale sea traffic from burgeoning Pacific-rim countries including China, and South Korea.

Seems the Panamanians, which the other day voted to enlarge there canal, are not too happy with the future competition.
