Here are some links I've come across in my zealous search to find anything and everything related to Viet Nam. Help me expand my list with absolutely must-have sites regarding politics, entertainment, language, history, and so on. Be sure to add a brief description of what that site has to offer. He's my list:
Vietnamese-English-German-French dictionary
http://www.saigon.com/~vietdict/
Pobably the most extensive Vietnamese dictionary site out there.
Another Vietnamese-English dictionary site:
http://www.ksvn.com/anhviet_new.htm
This one is good for people who are learning the language and are still stuck on the accent marks. For example, you just type in a word without the accents, and it will return a full list of that word with accents.
Little Sai Gon Radio:
http://www.littlesaigonradio.com/new/
Probably the most far-reaching radio program for Vietnamese-Americans. Streaming audio is good for those who do not live near Little Sai Gon, California and want to hear world/local/entertainment/health/etc news in Vietnamese. Parents will probably love this site.
BBC Vietnamese:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/vietnamese/index.shtml
Offers both online news and streaming radio in Vietnamese.
Nguoi Viet News:
http://nguoi-viet.com/
Popular print news source
Radio Hai Ngoai:
http://www.radiohaingoai.com/
Similar to Little Sai Gon Radio.
VNEnterpise:
http://vnenterprise.com/
Extensive site with Vietnamese lyrics, songs, poems, novels, recipes, and Viet-owned business directory.
Sai Gon CD and RangDong:
http://www.saigoncd.com
http://www.rangdong.com/
Both sites sell Viet entertainment, like CDs, movies, etc.
TerraGalleria:
http://www.terragalleria.com/vietnam/vietnam.html
Amazing photos of Viet Nam
Streaming MP3s:
mp3.vietbel.org
Vast collection of MP3s, but you can only stream (i.e. can't d/l them). Server is slow so there will be a lot of bufferring, or pauses; to get around that, set your mp3 player to buffer more. For example, in Windows Media Player, go to Tools -> Options -> Performance -> 10 seconds (or whatever works the best for you), but it will take a long while for a song to begin playing.
Be sure to add your own, but don't go overboard.
browser only! The site uses pixel-precision display, self-adapts for 800x600 or 1024x768 screen definitions, and there are too many different non-Microsoft browsers now, and I can't crosscheck with them all, because it's really too much work.
