I think that hanfu and qipao will become popular in world fashion as western dominance lessens and chinese influence increases.
world-fashion has already and often taken inspiration from all kinds of cultures and countries, including China, it's just that designers don't always credit them.
I don't think it's just political or financial influence that will do, but people and designers need to like the culture and their people too.

What can you expect from a hardcore communist.
All they ever did for china was economic stagnation, mass ignorance and cultural destruction.
So glad that Deng xiaoping brought pragmatism back.
Hanfu should be worn during festivals.

Those hanfu are ugly though.

This is a little different than Japanese people and kimonos. Kimonos are an adoption of Han style dress from back in the eras when the Japanese still respected Chinese culture. So for them to go from one foreign style to another is not all that weird.
We, the Han, created this stuff, we own and it defines a part of our heritage. For us to disown it is a far greater travesty. If I get married to a Chinese girl, I'll make sure we have an authentic traditional Han style wedding.
Yeah, that's a terrific idea, make sure they won't be as ugly as the hanfu shown in the pictures.
