Candice Pillay looks like a well groomed well fed south Indian girl. I noticed that the grooming of her family is giving them more Latino look. There are friends of her in those photos but I pointed at her sister that she looks Indian, so my guess was right. I should give a pat on my back. I can still recognize Indians.

There is nothing Indian in the way Candice Pillay's family wears and grooms. Especially females their reliance on heavy makeup short hair western clothing is very distinctive from the grooming of typical Indian female. Just look at her mother, so much Latino she is not even wearing any Indian style jewelery. They look more like a typical Indian Christian family.

Why you're getting so defensive on her? I just asked a question I never stated that. She works in USA where most non-black, non-white, non-east Asian people try to pass themselves as some Latino to break into the entertainment industry. It is a trend in America, call it Latino craze. Some years ago all of the Indian models trying to have work in America or Europe had to pass themselves as a Latino model to be accepted. But things have changed for sometime, now Indian models can call themselves rightly Indian, thanks to Miss World and Miss Universe pageants.


And I found her pic in flicker.com. She became a girl from Lahore there. People are misusing the pic for sure.

VAMAN, you're changing what you were saying. You actually asked if she considers herself a Latina and I responded saying it's impossible for her to do that because she isn't. You also said that she dresses Latina style, but that's normal Western style. Trying to pass as a Latina is another thing and ExpressYourself established that she isn't and she always says that she's Indian.

As for Indian models trying to pass as Latinas, I've never heard about that and I don't see how that would help. There are few Indian models in the fashion industry here, but there aren't many Latinas either.

There are lots of models in America with Latino ancestry. I know several years ago it was hard for Indian models to get work in Europe. Agents would tell them to introduce themselves as from some South-American country. Even Satya Oblet had to bleach his hair blonde to get accepted. But now things have changed for good.

No, there aren't. Most of the Latina models are ones in men's magazines. I'm talking about fashion models. I read an interview with an Indian-American model and she said that non-whites groups have periods where they're in demand and then it dies down. Only ambiguous-looking ethnic models are usually successful because they can pass as many things.

See anyone can pass off as a Latino. Some look like black-African, some are white like European, then some have stereotypical brown Hispanic look etc. In America most people have no idea about their ancestry. Even Christy Turlington has a Latino ancestry and she was such a big supermodel.

Victoria's Secret models are commercial models. The only one who's done well outside of VS is Gisele... but both she and Alessandra are both full white Brazilians. And yeah, I did mean ethnic looking models. Like I said before, it's only the ambiguous looking ethnic models that usually do well.
