I think Vaman meant in the sense that we should not generalise about looks as we're not always correct, and it is very easy to accidentally confuse an Indian for Chinese.

for example, these people if in America dressed in Western clothing would most probably be thought to be Chinese rather than Indians.

Ah, its Asia...Everybody is "mixed".
That guy could exist anywhere from Turkey to China, and from Russia to India.

Yes there is a stereotypical look(s) of a country and no there is no typical looks of a country.
I am sorry, but I don't think I follow your logic on this one.

I also used to think before that I can tell just by the looks of a person about his/her ethnicity or country but I got right many times and got wrong many more times, after that I stopped thinking this way. But yes still I sometimes do try to figure this out without being getting serious.
We all do, it is human nature.
As humans, we are tribal, regardless of how we try and spin it.

If you want my opinion Claudia Lynx looks more like a Hispanic with her makeup and outfit. If she wears a burkah she will look like an iranian.

Well, a lot of folks confuse Iranians with Latinos, especially those from Central and South America. It probably comes from the whole Mediterranean/Asian "mix" that both groups have.
As far as burkas are concerned, I consider that remark of yours to be an ugly cheap shot. You know as well as I do that burkas are not, and never have been worn in Iran.
Or perhaps you don't know.

Here is a link to thread with a great deal of photographs from Tehran, Iran's capital.

Oh, will our world ever make sense.

Yeah, that's true. I didn't know she was Iranian till I read her bio online. Supposedly she has been contacted by a number of Indian Film Producers to star in their films but has declined because she is working on her new solo album (she's a singer).
From what I gathered, she grew in in Southern California, and was only born in Iran. That means she is pretty much 100% American. My guess is she wants a career in Hollywood. Thats just a guess, but one that would not surprise me.
