Yeah, I hated Inuyasha also. The storyline was just so watered down, unlike some of her previous works.
rahul1000
Yay for going off topic!

And yes, Inuyasha at first was good but now is just a peice of $hit. I'm sure the anime studio canceled the anime because the fu-king story isn't going anywhere, I think Rumiko's gone senile and just wants to make money off of it. Its just strange how they animated all of her previous works but couldn't finish animating Inuyasha. I'm sure the manga will have a $hitty ending anyways, nothing can save it, Naraku isnt' gonna die.

Seriously, is anyone still interested in this awful series? too bad, at first it seemed pretty good. icon_sad.gif

I'm surprised no JAV company CEOs made it to the list.

It shows that zainichi are able to move advance socially, while if you look at South Korea, most ethnic minorities face discrimination and uanble to move up socially.
CJK
there are so many ethnic koreans that made it rich with pinball-pachin'k'o machine manufacturing and parlors; they practifcally own the industry.

all those rich zainichi guys faced a lot of discrimination.
bluee
yeah, it's famous many pachinco (pinball game) and consumer finance companies are run by zainichi koreans, and it doesn't mean koreans were not discriminated by japanese. pachinco is one of the largest industry in japan and most of pachinco parlors and companies are run by zainichi koreans. now 30% of japanese who ranked in the word's billionaires of fobes are owners of pachinco or consumer finance companies. Masayoshi Son's father ran both of pachinco parlor and finance company, and grandfather was a coal miner from Daegu.

Japan's Rising Son, Newsweek International, January 1, 2000

Son long ago learned how to be positive in the face of adversity. An ethnic Korean in a country where outsiders are treated as outcasts, Son started breaking the mold as a young boy. He began his journey in a squatter camp on Kyushu, Japan's southernmost main island. Most of the 60-odd families who lived in the hamlet were descendants of Koreans once conscripted as forced labor. They raised pigs and did menial labor; few other occupations were open to Koreans. Settlers mixed little with their Japanese neighbors and suffered constant discrimination. "The Korean kids smelled like a pigpen," says a middle-aged salaryman who grew up nearby. "We used to yell, 'Hey, Koreans,' and throw stones at each other." Like most families, the Sons used a fake surname Yasumoto in an attempt to pass for Japanese.

But Son got lucky. Thanks to his father's budding Pach!nko-parlor business, the clan moved into town and pursued Japan's middle-class dream: education. Taizo, the youngest of four boys, who owns an e-business consulting company called Indigo, recalls his father's way of instilling confidence in his children: "He would sit me on his knee, stroke my head and repeat, 'Taizo is a genius'." The second oldest, Masayoshi, tested into one of Japan's best high schools, in nearby Fukuoka. He quit in six months and, with his father's reluctant blessing, went to study in the United States. "[Son] told me: 'Even if I attend a top Japanese university, I won't be able to get a good job here because I'm Korean'," recalls Itsuo Abe, his homeroom teacher. "I said, 'If they don't want to accept me, that's fine'," remembers Son. " 'I'm going to prove that a human is a human, and that any human with a passion and intelligence can be equal.' That was good motivation to fight harder."

In the free environment of California, Masayoshi Yasumoto decided he no longer had to pretend to be Japanese. "After he left, he wrote me a letter and another to the entire school, saying he was Son, not Yasumoto," Abe told NEWSWEEK. "His explanation was that he needed to use his real name to simplify paperwork, but my impression was that he was freeing himself from an old burden." After high school and a stint at Holy Names College in Oakland, Son earned an economics degree from the University of California, Berkeley. On the side, he imported Space Invader videogames from his father and invented a translation machine that he later sold to Japanese electronics maker Sharp for $1 million. Recalls Berkeley physics professor emeritus Forrest Mozer: "I remember telling my wife, 'We should grab onto that guy because he's going to own all of Japan in 10 years'."

Korean Nukes Linked to Japanese Pinball December 4, 2006
Pach!nko, a form of pinball deeply loved in Japan, is an industry largely run by ethnic Koreans, and experts have long believed the revenue to be a vital source of hard currency for the impoverished regime in North Korea.

Now, as Kim Jong Il's nuclear weapons program gathers pace, Japan's attitude is hardening, and that includes shutting out the ferry on which money is believed to be hand-carried from Japan to North Korea.

The machines rake in more than $200 billion a year, some of which finds its way to North Korea. Official figures put the total of remittances from sources in Japan at $25.5 million, but the bookkeeping is murky and some think the sum is closer to $850 million a year. No one knows how much of it comes directly from Pach!nko.

and i can provide some proofs about founders of Takefuji and Aiful are zainichi.
CJK
oops, double posted.
CJK
yeah, those japanese really love 'pachincoro,' it's such a huge industry.

it makes sense that it's dominated by koreans since zainichis had very little choice but to open their own businesses. the game itself was invented by a zainichi in nagoya after WWII.

koreans have made a strong impact on modern and ancient japanese culture.

Pachin'k'o
Bright, garrish, noisy and smoke-filled, Pachin'ko pinball arcades are always found in soapland districts. There are over 10,000 of these establishments in Japan and more than half the population admits to playing Pachin'ko pinball machines on a regular basis. Players win tokens that they swap for prizes ranging from cigarettes to hi-fi equipment. Apparently pachin'ko was invented by a Korean in Nagoya who, after World War II, wanted to find a use for surplus ball bearings.

840 Han Chang-Woo (from SoCal's reply) is zainichi korean 1st generation who runs pachinco parlors. he moved to japan and graduated from good japanese university. but korean couldn't get a job in japan. he faced many discriminations. he said he studied and worked harder than people who discriminated him.
