If Pattani become an independent nation, the moral value will different from what is being seen and practice nowaday. I think it will change in moral characters, drastically.

Thailand, as a nation with such similar problems, needs to remain in Pattani and in the troubled southern provinces and maintain peace and control. By simply granting independency to these provinces will not solve your problem, but rather entice other provinces in Thailand per se in Issan as well as well as in Surin; as they would have seen that the central government's authority no longer holds legitimacy since it granted independency to Pattani. Thailand must not buckle in this important situation, it is a heavy burden to bear, but must be maintained for the stability of Thailand, and for the stability of all of ASEAN.

pattani will just turn into a pest breeding ground. unlike malaysia, it does not have high proportion of ethnic chinese to help with the economy. people there care too much about their religion, they are not at all equipped with any basic skills. people are conservative and backward like PAS and will definitely be a pain to UMNO if pattani joined malaysia.

yeah whose fault is it i wonder. everyone has a chance to basic education (FREE), FYI we dont have a quota limiting the number of thai muslims in school. all the locals do is sending their children to ponok (religion school) where all they do is memorizing the book. yeah thats real basic education. they cant even speak thai. how do u expect to fine a job when u cant speak the laguage. they would be more educated if they stop burning down government schools, killing teachers.

Maybe if Thai can treat the Pattanis as Muslim rather then treat them like the rest of the Thais, maybe they'll calm down. There's one thing you should know about Muslim, leave them and their religion alone and they'll be more then willing to live under any government. Many muslim rebel because of the non muslim central government who always try to impose their ways which sometimes contradic the norm of muslim society. look at Acheh, after the implementation of Syaria there, things have calm down. Maybe Thai should grant Pattani an Autonomy.

i initially thought that only a small part but im beginning to doubt that. whenever something happened, the villagers, mostly women, formed human barricade preventing soldiers from going in. no coorporation was given whatsoever. u think refusing to speak thai is an attempt to preserve their malay identity??!! i think thats stupid and backward. they are thai but refuse to speak thai. no thai would want to hire them. its better to be bilingual than monolingual. they can speak malay or jawi to their family n friends or whoever they want. just like malaysians who learn n speak english. does that mean that speaking english is a threat to your malay identity?

Ya...In order to have peace, the Patani Malays have to quickly forget they are Malay Muslim but regard themselve as Thai Muslims...Have to forget about the past war and so on as Sumatra and Java
also fight each other centuries ago...Must feel that they are in Thailand instead of home..Must accept
that Thais are free to drink, go to disco and so on...must feel like a minority as Malays in Singapore...
