I'm about 99.9% sure that I will be moving to Dallas, TX by next summer or earlier. Tell me where are the best places to live and other things about Dallas. I know that I can google this stuff up, but I'd rather hear your thoughts on Dallas, TX.

I been there once and it's kinda meh, it's better than Jacksonville, but I think San Antonio is the coolest Texan city.

Bah, never had a soft spot for Dallas. They do have one of the largest anime cons, but the housing is expensive and I tend never to spend much time messing around in the "city". A bad example of urban sprawl.

I lived there for awhile:
- Not as cosmopolitan as Seattle
- Not as boring as San Jose, Ca
- Few, if any Asian markets/stores
- Far from being as fast as Boston or NYC
Thats how I see it. You are better off chilling in Houston if you want fun

A cousin of mine attended UTA in Arlington and said half his EE graduating class were Asian - the other half Indian

^ Very very true. Good thing I don't go to UTA, although I live about ten minutes away from there. They should really change it to "University of Texas Asians" because 95% of the population there, especially in the Science departments, are all Asians (mostly Viet), real talk.
Dallas isn't too bad though, although I wouldn't personally live there. They have the worst drivers ever, especially downtown. I'm more of a Fort Worth girl though, just because I was raised there half of my life. I'm now in Arlington and I don't like it too much just BECAUSE of the overpopulated Asian community and the fact that everyone knows everybody. >_>
Good luck on the move, although this post is dated several months back!

Looks like Dallas-Ft. Worth is either snoozing or out partying instead of logging in here these days.
Back when I was at UTA the engineering department seemed mostly Arabic instead of Asian.
Seems like Arlington's Asian community is growing into Grand Prarie, now that the Walmart has become a Hong Kong Market.
K-Town continues to be busy, even though the new H-Mart is drawing customers to north Carrollton. Including me, though I live 2x farther from the H-Mart than the Komart.
Fujitsu's Akimatsuri was this Sunday and though really small, there was a large turnout. 1/3 of all the booths were the area's larger Japanese restaurants and the lines were long. Luckily I had met a friend at Genroku for their $1 lunch special before going out there.
Anyone from DFW still around? If you are interested in Japanese or Korean, there are regular gatherings.

Like any city it's size, there are things to like, lots of stuff of no interest, and a few places to be careful of - or avoid all together.
I used to say I would choose Dallas over Houston because of the humidity, but there isn't much difference here now. And its a real toss-up on which has the worst traffic, though San Antonio can be an even worse nightmare behind the wheel.

I am from West Texas and East Texas is very prejudice against any one that is not white, I have traveled all over Texas on business and in Dallas, Houston, and Arlington they are the most prejudice of all. Austin (capital of Texas) wants all of our taxes but gives us nothing in return, it's all kept for East Texas, for many years west Texas wanted to split Texas in half but it just won't be done...maybe with the help of the Chinese like a previous poster posted..LOL

It would be easier to just say the rural Texas is prejudiced against non-whites. But really they tend to be that way to everyone except the locals. Urban areas are changing for the better.

Looks like i am the only one posting in here these days, but in case anyone is reading ......................
Last week it was announced that Kollaboration will add Dallas to it's line up for 2012.
If you aren't familiar with
Kollaboration check it out.
Once there is more info about the 2012 events in Texas, you can count on it being posted for anyone wanting to help or compete.
BTW, one of our locals won the prize at Kollaboration Houston last Saturday.
Dette BeuntipoAnd there were as many finalists from Dallas-Fort Worth as there were local acts from Houston.
